I agree you will any one truly wanting to restore that 442 will want to have that cutlass as a parts car as these cars do not have much in the repop parts unless they already have a stock of parts I spent well over 5000 in parts

Looking at pics of the 442 air cleaner. Are the valve covers on the wrong side I'm lost. I always see the Calif. 442 air cleaner with breather out the pass. side of snorkel. And 49 State out the same side as Calif. so could you look at the inside of the 442 cleaner to make sure its not fake.

442
Just looked at some old pics I have of the 49 State and Calif. the valve cover is wrong on the driver side the breather goes to the air cleaner from the valve cover. I think I'll pass some thing is wrong.

I already sold my '65. I remember the air cleaner making no sense to me when I researched the car, but I don't remember exactly what I found out!! If I remember correctly, I was puzzled why it had a California air cleaner...and that must mean it is not a Fremont car if I was wondering that. Make sure you read the info on that ultra-high-compression link in the ad; it explains actual frame stamping that ONLY '64 442s got.

If anyone really wants the 442 by itself, be sure to check the pics and details. The air cleaner is NOT fake, and yes, people do make them.
The pictures show all of the bad spots, which is what I like to see when buying a project car.
I hate to sell the 442 by itself, but I will. I won't, however, sell just the Cutlass first. I don't have the drive and energy to find another gold mine "parts" car if I keep the 442.

One crappy side note:
I live in a very dry climate, and 3 miles from my current house (where I used to live) we had no wind. I always kept my projects outside under piles of tarps and they were protected well.
Now, living just 3 miles away (past 6 years), water has actually condensed a bit under my taps.
Could it be the canyon wind? We get wind all night, every night. And I have way less shade... It just sucks because I'm finding flash rust on the roof of my '64 GTO project that I keep on the south end of my shop, and same flash rust on the Cutlass roof. Both areas get direct sunlight at least for part of the day. Both cars have been stored here for 5 years. Rust isn't bad, but annoying!
Tarps fall apart much quicker here, too.
I know I've been told tarps trap moisture, but all the years of living at my other house didn't give me this issue...
Buy these before they crumble away to mother earth!
Do your civic duty to American car history!

This picture is safer...less complete, though. You can still see one of the Chevy rally wheels it sat on when I sold it to him.
As for the two '64s: Someone, anyone, please adopt these before they slowly rust down into the form of two Ford Mustangs. Oh the humanity!
I would still trade for a running, driving 1960 Ventura 2DHT in good shape.
I would also consider a Hardinge HLV lathe...
Buy! Buy! Buy!

If you are reading this ad:
Carefully read through the details about the 442 being real, and the Cutlass being 99% rust free and 99.999999% original, with amazing interior.
Adopt these cars! Get all of the extra pieces, also!
I lose sleep at night thinking how they will deteriorate for the next 20 years until I get around to restoring them...
I have way too many projects, and they are honestly stressing me out. As much as I hated the idea of getting rid of some of my hoarding projects, it has been liberating to do so the past few years.

I'm finally thinking of eBay, though I dread it.
