1966 complete 400-4V 442 engine with transmission
Hey, I'm new here and to be honest I may not visit much since I don't own an Oldsmobile, but I do own a complete 1966 Oldsmobile 400-4V 442 engine. It has never been restored and still has the original bronze paint on it. It also has the original manual transmission still attached to it. I'm trying to get an idea what this engine combo is worth. Can someone help me? Thanks! Also....The stamping on the block starts V014xxx.

Hi,
Looks like A heads so might be from a 65, as I had thought B castings were on 66
Worth is subjective, how many miles were on them,, and whats the back story?
Do the numbers match between the engine and transmission?
Is it locked up or still turn over?
A muncie used is anywhere from 600-1200
A big block Olds motor 400-800, cost the same to build a 400 as it does a 455 +/- a little if different cam bank angles and maybe lifter size not sure if 400's had both sizes or not
Would be worth more if you could find the car it came from?
Someone with more knowledge might be able to give you a better idea.
Where are you located as someone close by might be more interested vs across the country.
Regards,

A heads are 1965 only. The block casting number next to the oil fill tube will tell you if it's really a 1965 block or a 66-67 block. Also, that looks like a Muncie shifter, not a Hurst shifter, which would also indicate 1965 model year. More photos would help.

you guys are right. It is a 65. I found a site that says the V014xxx stamping is a 65.
