Pulling '68 442 engine
Hi Guys,
I'm sure this has been covered before. I am pulling the engine in my 68 442. I have it ready to go. I am pulling it with the Trans in tact (TH400) Question is, do I need to remove the Transmission cross member to clear the tunnel?
Also, I have the intake manifold off, where do I connect the hoist? Do I need to put it back in?
Thanks
Craig

Yes, you will need to remove the crossmember to allow the rear of the tranny to drop down. I usually use the bolt holes located at the front and rear of the heads to attach the chain to for pulling the engine. As a rear hole on the passengers side and a front hole on the drivers side.

Ok, so getting close to pulling the hulk out. I got a 1 ton (harbor freight) hoist (actually impressed with it and it was only 99 bucks!) I bought an engine load leveler. It came with the chain. Any ideas how to bolt it to the engine? It has four links.
Thanks!

There's a 3/8" threaded hole on each side of the heads at the top. Most people use those

edit: (use grade 5 or grade 8 bolts)
