'71 Delta Royale convertible Projects.
I'm planning on the following mods. to my convertible.
1.
Install HEI distributor (removed from a running '75 Custom Cruiser).
I have the timing pointer from the Custom Cruiser also.
Are there any changes necessary to the distributor?
What settings should I use for the timing? '75 or '71 engine specs.
2.
Install an Edelbrock manifold and a 750 performer carb.
The carb has electric choke. The Edelbrock installation information says to wire it, directly, into the fuse block, using a accessory terminal. Does this mean there is power to it all the time when the ignition is in the run position?
My car has a stock 455 engine, with 75,000 original miles on it. There are no problems with the engine.
Will I need the "turkey tray" gasket set for the Edelbrock swap, or just manifold gaskets and rubbers? Do I use stainless bolts and washers because of the aluminum intake?

I'm not sure if an HEI distributor from 75 has the same timing curve as your stock points distributor from 71. I know the distributor will fit. I would set it to the 71 timing specs and see how it runs.
When you install the carburetor put the choke on 12V ignition so there is only power to it when your key is in the run position. I have an Edelbrock Performer intake on my 455 and I ditched the turkey tray. I also bought new hardware. I just got the SAE 2 bolts and coated them in anti-sieze before installation.
