72 442 455 carb question

Hi, just put a stock Rochester carb on my not orig 455, it has the W-455 aluminum intake, when I tried to order a steel carb to fuel pump fuel line they asked if it was a W-30 car then the fuel line and choke tube were not available for a W-30 car, what the difference? Any one know? Thanks Phil from Milwaukee

the line for the W-30 was 2 pieces that year. if you don't have a w-30 or you don't mind it not being original then just get the standard line.

Thanks for the reply, did the W-30 model have two fitting on the Carb? Was there also a difference on the fuel line to carb installation? Thanks Phil,

No, the W-30 used an inline canister fuel filter that year, so one line went from the pump to the filter and the second from the filter to the carb. The choke pipe should be the same as for all big block Qjet cars.

Question

Thanks for the reply, I know see the canister in the front rt wheel whell, does anyone have a diagram here the vacume carb ahd fuel canister lines attach, still canot confirm my car is a W-30, did a 350 car come as a w-30 or only a 455 car? I think the previous owner tried to make a w-30 car, my vin show a 350 was stock motor, Thanks Phil

There should not be a canister in the wheel well area. Sounds like you need a factory Chassis Service Manual and maybe the Assembly Manual. In order to unfix all the stuff the previous owner "fixed". Since you have a factory 350 car now with a 455... most folks do a very "semi-rectal" job of such a modification, leaving much to be done properly. There's a bit more to a W30 than an AL intake and a 455.
