Advice on fuel system cutting out

I have a '71 Delta 88 royale with the 455 and I am having issues with the engine cutting out and sometime dying out when I push down on the gas too quickly.
I have replaced all of the sparks, change the fuel filter and rebuilt the 2 brl carb but I am still having the same issue.
Any ideas would help. Thanks everyone

Will it start right back up? Is there still spark, fuel, we need some troubleshooting on your part.

Sorry about that: starts right up and drives great. However, from a dead stop, if I get into the gas a little too quick, the engine cuts out. Once I'm going and I floor it, no issues, just from a stand still.

Idle: uv had it set semi "regular" but I've tuned it to run low and high to test it, I'm still having the same issue no matter the setting.

What dist are you running? What is your dwell (if you have points) and timing set to? With the engine off, looking down into the carb while operating the throttle to wot, do you have 2 solid streams of fuel spraying?

I'll check the dist and the dwell when I get back to it, as for the carb's jets, yes they are working great.

Will the dist and dwell make the engine coke out when accelerating from at stop?

Yes, if the dwell is too low or high then your not supplying a hot enough or a very erratic spark. If the timing is way off then your not supplying the spark at the proper point, too late or too soon.

Ok then. I will have to get at that. I'm just a weekend warrior when it comes to my cars and I had no idea. That you very much for that info. How do I find out what it is set at and what it SHOULD be set at?

Do you have access to a tach/ dwell meter and a timing light? The settings will depend on what distributor you have in there can you post a picture of it?

Dwell should always be 30 degrees plus or minus two for a V8. Lacking a voltmeter, you can get right on or very close with this method:

At warm idle, turn dwell adjuster in [CW] until engine stumbles and misfires.
Turn backwards [ccw] 1/2 turn.

As for the timing, you need a timing light to get that just right.
In general, as much advance as you can tolerate w/o detonation or starting difficulties.
Since the rotor spins CCW as viewed from above, you can retard the timing by rotating the housing the same direction- CCW, or advance the timing by turning the housing opposite that of rotor rotation.

But, the symptoms sound to me more like the accelerator pump has failed.
