Big Block performer vs stock
It is 40lbs lighter than the stock intake much easier to set back on the intake for one person. The perfromer is a little taller and has a large plenum the ports are split at the plenum vs the farther down the runners like on a stock intake so air keeps moving all the way to combustion chamber vs the stock intake T-ing and making the air decide to go left bank or right. Many old school olds guys say the performer is worth the time and money and work
for a street car and they work with any carb you already have .

Small block not as dramatic of a change still weight's less a and ports split at plenum but not as tall of plenum

The edelbrock performer is a lot lighter and you will make more horsepower with it.

I have a manual choke set up so not having the heat riser works great and a 3" x 14" air cleaner fit no issues. '69 442 w/455

The weight savings alone are probably worth the switch.

Just another opinion here. Since "it runs real good" as stock, i'd just leave it as is unless you were going to make other performance upgrades to go with the Edelbrock intake. Also, 40lbs. weight savings would be nice but you wouldn't notice it on its own.

all green you now how guys are we cant leave anything alone add in the young part and that drive is even greater! But YOU ARE RIGHT unless he has a two barrel set up or is going to be pulling to do a gasket fix he might be better to clean his up real goood mask it off an paint and primp what he has. A nice clean stock engine bay is very cool too. Many of us wish they still had the stock intake for their car on here. Im one of the first in that line, it will coast me three to four time's what a edelbrock intake is IF I ever find one.

OK, so this is for big blocks, I'm sure SB is similar. Height and weight. On one of these forums I posted the weights, but don't remember where. They were NOT 40 lbs lighter! If I recall, the weight difference was less than 20 lbs..
