Intake gaskets needed
Hey all I'm looking for a set if intake gaskets for my '72 U code Supreme with an Edelbrock Performer intake. It has the crossovers so I'll need a set made for those. Or, do I need the crossovers and I can just block them off and use regular gaskets?

A gasket blocking off the crossovers will burn through in a short while. You can get the turkey tray gasket as was used by the factory (one version for SB 350 a different version for BB 455) or you can go with fiber gaskets. Both work. I use the factory turkey tray.

Do the fiber gaskets have the slots for the crossover?

Looks like with the limited offerings now, you have to cut your own crossover port holes or drill a 1/2" hole in the gaskets. When I was a kid some came cut or drilled. Edelbrock used to supply plugs with their manifolds, the said it was to prevent damaging the manifold due high heat at WOT.

One time I used the composition gaskets with no crossover port, and when I pulled the intake a while later the gaskets were burned through. So don’t sweat it, use them as-is and know they will burn through in a short time, or use the old gasket as a template and cut a hole in the new ones. Or use the metal style that is made with the crossover hole.

Place the gasket on the head and cut it out.
