Mechanical fuel pump arm to timing chain clearance

Restarting 455 build project ...mechanical fuel pump arm is rubbing against double-row timing chain even though the arm on the fuel pump does have a curve in it .... is there a mechanical fuel pump that has more of a curve that will clear the timing chain don't want to go with an electric pump.

Thx in advance

It should not touch the timing chain. If it does, then something is bent or out of alignment. The arm should ride on the Cam gear eccentric mounted to the face of the cam gear.

I’m curious, what pump are you using?

I remember having this exact problem with the cheap Holley mechanical pump on a 425. I solved it by using a rat tail file to slot the mounting holes just enough to clear the chain. Crude, but effective.

I have read the same clearance method when using a double roller timing set.
