Paint Color 455

A couple of questions: I got dinged for "wrong engine paint color" at our Zone Show last month. What brand/what color for a '68 H/O 455? Along the same lines, what brand/color used on the plastic inner fenders on the same car? We know, of course, that the Silver Bullet is a "one of", just trying to make it closer all the time. Aron

Yes, the REAL H/O had red inner fenders, not painted, just the color of the plastic, or whatever it is. Please keep in mind, the Silver Bullet is a LongTop Cutlass Wagon painted to resemble one of the 515 H/O's built in 1968. Rather hard to come by to purchase, so taking the easy way out.

Actually, red inner fenders are rather easy to purchase, assuming you're willing to part with about $400 for a repro set.

On other hand, maybe the red plastic venders are the cheap way.

paint wil not last on plastic that could bent and twist.
And it wil damage on the inner side from the gravel flying from the tires.

I resprayd my car with the plastic fenders on it so i could not damage the paint.
And it get a bit of gray primer on it, i think it is gone next year

Aron,

I got it. Of course, one wonders why red plastic inner fenders are $400, but black are $250. Considering that the molds are exactly the same, as is the labor to mold a set...

W-30 adds to the parts price as does to the sale price. Money in = money out RIGHT?

By that logic, a 1970 front fender drilled for a W-30 emblem is worth more than one not drilled?

Keep in mind that Aron's 68 is a "phantom" H/O flattop wagon. It should have a decidedly non-copper engine color - red, in fact.

they were originally black plastic, now painted red, of course. They have become dirty, and the paint doesn't look "spot on" as to color, more of a flat red in pictures of a "real" H/O that I've seen in person, and pictures I took at our Zone Show of one up from Houston (a great exammple of one, incidentally!!!).
