Proper engine venting

Not sure if my engine is vented properly. I have a breather in each valve cover, no PCV. Now those breathers in the picture are oil soaked now and at times the "top hat" oil filler tube cap will be wet with oil. The breather on the passenger side collects the most oil. There are no baffles in the valve covers so I guess a PCV can't be installed. I wouldn't be able to hook into the carb base anyway. Does this setup look correct? Thanks.

I've got a pcv hooked to the right side valve cover and a vent from the left valve cover to air breather housing. Seems to work really good!!!!

Put a PCV valve in which ever valve cover makes it easier to hook it to the PCV tube on one of the carbs. Get 1 PCV and 1 breather valve cover grommets with baffles. That should cure the oiling problem. Moroso makes the grommets.

.......BREATHER............ PCV.......

I always have the PCV running from the passenger side valve cover,to the intake, and a regular breather on the driver's side. You can put these in if you valve covers have baffles or not.

Thanks guys, seems like I need a PCV one way or the other. I guess it acts like a vacuum. Maybe this will cure my oil leak at the oil pan seals. Too much pressure build up in the crankcase. I have a hookup on the rear carb but there is no space to connect the hose. I do have the spot on the intake where the power brake would draw from. I take it I can connect the PCV there? Thanks.
Okay I found a plug on the back of the rear carb, I put a fitting in it and will connect the PCV line there.

Yeah, the PCV or Positive Crankcase Ventilation uses vacuum from the engine to pull the air out of the oiling system that would otherwise build pressure. Good idea to have one if you can fit it.

Don't think of it as ventilation. Think of it as circulation. A complete connected path for air to flow & release pressure. Think of it like you are sitting in you house with the windows shut. You open one window, and you do let air in,but you won't feel much,if anything. Now you open another window at the other end of the room, and now the air flows through the room,in a direction or path, and you can feel it.

Well I put the PCV in and attached to the rear of my rear carb. My covers don't have baffles and I'm burning oil now. Is there a type of baffle for the old M/T covers? The baffle grommets Moroso sells are round, my covers have the stock style opening, "D" shape. Anyone have a similar setup?

I ordered these. Will modify the stock 1" grommets so these will fit.

Got them, course they're not going to work. The stock grommets can't be modified. Can't put a round grommet in a non round hole.
