Waterpump gasket

Hey all,
Happy Newyear!
Unfortaunatly i was blessed with a leaky waterpump gasket.
Took the 442 for a cruise i figured what better way to ring in the Newyear right?
On the way home i smelt alittle antifreeze i said can't be me of course.
So i looked underneath the car at the next stop sign and sure enought we had a leaker.
Thanks god i was around the block from home.
So i parked it took a look upon taking it apart i noticed the bolts were not as tight as i would have made them, and that it was not leaking from the weep hole. There was a new pump put in recently an AC DELCO to boot.
So i'm going to try the gasket only first, the pump feels and looks brand new.
I took it all apart last night just have to pick up the $2.00 gasket today.
Anybody ever come across this or does it sound possible?
John

Is the leak coming from the gasket or from the weep hole on the underside of the pump casting nose? In any case, the gasket is easy to change. Be VERY VERY careful not to overtorque the 1/4" self tapping bolts that hold the pump to the front cover. These only thread into the sheet metal cover and the cover strips easily.
