I had a electronic ignition conversion kit by MSD in my 442 with stock 455. The distributor had fire and the coil was hot on both sides positive and negative side. So I decided to replaced the conversion kit to HEI. I bought a new locally from napa pit it in and still no spark at the plugs I tested the power source wire it is hot with the key on and the distributor has power to it but no damn power to the plugs I tested it with my test light and the distributor has power but no fire to the plugs. What the hell on the first try it fired once or twice then stopped firing what the hell is going on

did you replace the resister wire power to the dizzy? If not, then you aren't getting 12 volts but more like 9volts - Not certain that this is problem, hopefully others will chime in

Those symptoms sound like a bad module. It's a new distributor but maybe the module isn't working properly?

Yes. How do you know that the new distributor is good?

And how on earth did you have a distributor fire? I've never even heard of such a thing.
