What is the thinnest composition head gasket?

What is the thinnest head gasket available without going to solid copper? Can I get .020"?

Thanks, Joel

I think the stock GM are .017. Mr. Gasket are .015? You said composition gasket, are you talking layered kind like MLS (multi layer steel)? Those are thicker with the thinnest being .027

Thanks for the info! I have a composition in my gasket set that is about .044, and I thought that was too thick. So I looked on summits web site and all they had was thick stuff or copper. If I can find a stock steel type gasket, that should be fine. Or a .015 mr. gasket should be even better. Where do they sell those? Anyone have a part #? thanks

Rock Auto sells them in FelPro and Victor Reinz, about $15-17 each. GM doesn't make them anymore but I'm sure these are close in thickness.

I don't think you will find a composition gasket thinner than .028. I think the GM steel shim gaskets were .018. I believe the Cometic get down to .020-.024. This is what I have heard and could be all wrong.

Thanks for all the help. I suppose I could use a stock type, embossed steel gasket. What I was thinking when I said composition, is that I just didn't want a plain flat copper gasket.
