twilight blue metalic?

Hey Folks,

New to this. Trying to pick out a Factory color for my 1970 442. I like the blue shown in this picture. For you experts out there, is this "Twilight Blue Metalic"?

Thanks

When did they start using Viking Blue, paint code 26? That is what is on my 1971 tree-crushed convertible...

I have seen a 1970 442 in Viking Blue that was a special order. But it was a Toro color in '70.

It looks very nice, but I agree with the previous post regarding it looking brighter than code 28 Twilight Blue. I have seen many versions of the color and although I love blue it can look rather flat if it is the correct shade. My '70 flattop wagon came from Lansing in this color. I have agonized over amping up the color when I throw it on. I'd like to keep the car as original as possible, but I know that it will look better in a 2001 GM Indigo pearl metallic, or maybe Dupont Hot Hues (Night Tides). If your car came in this color and are trying to duplicate it, I would suggest doing an image search on 1970 Oldsmobile Twilight Blue to get more perspective.

The lighting will have a big affect on how it looks. Astro Blue is much lighter in color, as is Viking Blue.

Paint chips etc.

That's what I thought as well! Since I don't have your original post in front of me, isn't the original paint code shown on the firewall? Anyway, feel free to give me a call anytime:-) 402-598-5858. Scott Frohm

This is the correct shade, the color posted in Jensen's picture has been doctored by the paint mixer. There is not enough sunlight in the Sahara to make the correct Twilight Blue that vibrant and bright. Owning a car in this color I mean no offense to others, only giving an honest observation.
