1957 VW Bus with Olds 350

I saw this on eBay and thought it looked pretty interesting. I've seen them with the Subaru engine swap but never an Oldsmobile V-8. I have to wonder if it's scary to drive on the freeway.

Certainly, not as scary as driving this

Considering that these are scary to drive on the highway, even at their normal top speed of 55 mph, I would vote "Yes."

Someone stold my damn idea lol. I actually want to do this with a vw panel van no windows . The plan is for me and dad to bring one up from mexico with no rust. Do some frame work install a 350 olds th350 combo with a narrowed rear end and a 4 link set up . And a straight axle in the front with the van in in a flat red finish with a gloss white top. I don't like the windows

Being a VW guy along with an olds guy, I have to say thats pretty damn cool. Thing about people that buy those busses though, if they spend a lot of cash they want an ORIGINAL bus, they get uber pissed when people modify them to that extent. Probably why the bidding only went to $12,200. a 57 in that shape but all original will go for $50,000+. An original 40's 23 Window "Samba" Bus will go for $100,000+ restored. I've had 8 or 9 Bugs, but I've only had 1 bus. Wish I kept it, I always wanted to throw a 350 in one!
