This highly documented original 1970 442 W30 (broadcast card, protecto plate, GM of Canada documentation to verify) was built April 15, 1970 in Lansing Michigan. It was shipped to Atom Motors Ltd in Kitimat B.C. Canada on April 20, 1970. I bought the car on January 12, 1996 when the odometer read 68,000 miles. (It currently reads 71,384 actual miles) When I bought the car it had some minor rust on the bottom of the front fenders and on the bottom edge of the trunk lid. The original paint was faded but original. The lower fenders were repaired. The trunk lid was re-painted paint and some areas below the W30 side stripe was reshot in lacquer paint. A factory NOS W35 spoiler was added at that time. The remainder of the car is the original factory lacquer paint that was buffed back to a shine. There are some door dings and minor surface imperfections in the paint. The paint colour is Code 50, Bamboo with Gold stripes.
The driver’s seat had some minor tears and the driver’s seat upholstery was replaced in 1996 with the only available kit at the time from PUI. The rest of the interior is original Code 934 Gold. The package tray is showing some deterioration. The previous owner had already detailed and repainted the engine and radiator support and I repainted the engine the correct colour of blue and detailed it. The original bias ply Uniroyal spare on a SS 1 ralley wheel, with date coded jack assembly, still resides in the trunk. The tires on the car are reproduction Firestone wide ovals. The under carriage is undercoated, presumably at the dealer, when new.
The drive train is all original, numbers matching, (including carb, distributor, heads, intake, water pump (rebuilt in a box comes with car), OW transmission, TO coded differential, and there is no outside evidence that it has ever been apart. I added a correct original dated diamond backed/ open face 111880 alternator which was not present when I purchased the car. The brakes, exhaust, hoses, wires, belts, have been replaced with NOS or correct reproduction parts where possible. The red inner fenders are unrestored and in excellent original condition. This W30 is 1 of 1032 Holiday Coupe’s (hard top no post), equipped with the TH400 automatic transmission. It has original Broadcast cards found in the driver’s seat and rear seat bottom, GM of Canada documentation and the protecto plate from when it was resold after being repossessed by GM in 1971.
I showed the car at the 2005 Oldsmobile Club of America national show in Seattle and it is well known by local British Columbia Oldsmobile enthusiasts. It was appraised by a well known local appraiser and Pebble Beach judge. He describes the car as: “"The most important thing to understand is that this car is ORIGINAL. Collectors such as myself value this type of vehicle much more than restored vehicles. There is a saying in the market place "anyone can have a restored car, it just takes money" It is very difficult to own an "original" car, as you must find one first, and then convince the owner to sell it. This Oldsmobile falls into this class of vehicle”.
I have taken this car to the race track twice, and without any special tuning. it ran a best time of 13.96 @98.71 miles per hour on the Firestone tires. Go to
to see that race. I do drive this car on the street (albeit only 2,500 miles in 24 years) and it runs and drives well. When I show the car, people will ask “How long has it been restored? They are usually shocked and surprised when I tell them it has never been restored. I have attempted to describe and reflect this car as accurately and honestly as possible. If you are genuinely interested, I would encourage personal inspection or ask a local Oldsmobile enthusiast to verify the car’s originality and condition. Asking $75000 USD.

Thank you. The gold stripe is not metallic and despite what the GM of Canada documentation says, it definitely is not Nugget Gold. If you look at a colour chart for the stripe colours on 1970 Oldsmobiles you can get the paint code numbers. It was simply called "Gold".
