1976 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency

Here we have a '76 Olds 98. This car was purchased by my Grandfather in '77 with 7k miles on it. He drove it until it had 193k on it, and parked it. Save for 6 months in '03-'04, it has been in storage ever since. At that time, I needed a car and bought it from him. I put new tires, belts, a couple hoses, etc on it, put a battery in it and it fired right up. It's been sitting for 8 years, and a couple weeks ago, it started right up. All of the accessories seem to work just fine, though I'm not certain if the AC is good. It blows, just not cold. It has the Rocket 455 engine in it. The tail light spacers have dry-rotted and fallen off. There's a little rust in the rear bumper and the bottom of the doors, but like I said, it's been in storage for more than half of its life! The only thing mechanically wrong that I saw was one of the rubber fuel lines leak, but that's just due to dry-rot. I have a spray-can of touch up paint, plus a lot of new filters and the service manual too. Asking $1,500. The car is located in West Union, IL, not far from Terre Haute, IN. Let me know if you have any questions!

<- when I had it 'out' in '03
<- shows where the leak is

That is an AWSOME car! The worst part is the rot in the bumper and along the bottom. Nothing that a skilled body man can't fix though. I think the color is Sandalwood. It is the same color as my 71 98. Good luck selling it.

Here's a 'video' of the car running. The video didn't come out right, but the audio's there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiNYg8FYXu4

2 days before the classified ends, then I'll probably toss it on an auction to get it moved.

Question

Just curious -- anybody know where this "Diamond-In-The-Rough" wound up? Or who bought it?? (Looks like he doesn't post on here too often...SMALL World how his fellow member in Brazil, IN sold one similar w/i the past couple years....)

Looks like it was sold as of September. It definitely looks like a good car with some nice options. I hope it went to a good home. Way too many of these cars are being disected for their motors and derbies.
