True I think they used em 65 up to? Olds 3spd (sagenaw?)was not strong enough for the 442.

Why didn't they use the Muncie like Chevy?

from my understanding (and i may be wrong here) the HD 3spd (aka the DEARBORN trans) was the base/default option in most cars, because the muncie version of it was not strong enough to survive behind the BOP torque monster motors.

apparently Chevy didn't have that problem.

M13 is the standard muncie 3-spd manual
M14 is the HD 3-spd Dearborn ford top loader trans

Guess they didn't want it to break!

All the BB Oldses and all full-size cars with three-speeds got the Dearborn tranny. 65-70 for the big cars, I think til 71 on the A-body.

Since they didn't sell many 3-speed stick versions of either, guess it was cheaper to buy them from Ford than to try and get Muncie/Saginaw to reinvent the wheel.

As a switch, Ford bought QuadraJets from GM for a lot of 69-72 Ford engines.

Actually I have one for the car, but I'm looking for pictures of: correct shifter ball w/o console and shifter mounting plate & linkage.
