I always like the reference to "special order". As opposed to an order that wasn't special? As usual, I wonder why he says it is "special".
Very sharp car! One thing that doesn't add up to me is the notched bumper. I have them as n/a with a 350.
And his claim of only 300 4-speed Cutlasses is way off. Maybe the figure he was given was for Cutlass Supremes with M21s.
There were at least 1951 (probably about 2150) M21s that made it into F85 models other than 442s. And there were at least 2190 M20s (probably about 2400) that likewise made it into F85 models other than 442s.

As an M21 car, it's one of only 71 1970 Supreme convertibles made with that trans. See the 1982 letter from Oldsmobile at the top of this page from my V Code website:

I'd agree that the cutout rear bumper came along later in the car's life. I really like the car though!

That car has been on every site around for sale.
Three months ago it was almost 30 grand, offer 25k and he'll take it I bet.
The car would have to be looked at closely, that engine compartment was never restored and I bet the underbody and frame looks the same.
Interior is a little seedy too.
Why do guys do the paint before that stuff all the time? It's like asking for trouble and bass-ackwards, better to look good than to feel good I guess.
Still not bad, I'll trade him my Vista Cruiser straight across.

I do not recall what we wanted for it before when it was listed( I want to say 25K) but I never spoke to the owner and do not recall for sure. I would have been interested but wanted a car with A/C although I don't know why as it is never that hot in Seattle

Kids why would you want a car like that for that kind of $$$$? These original cars are not that fast and safe at high speeds-if you can get them up to high speeds. Unless you are an original geek go ahead and pick it a part and have fun but if you are interested an any Olds that someone took alot time and $$$$$ to build, what's the point? Take my 67 442 resto-mod, It's the way I wanted a 442 to be (not an original car) in todays horse power battle in the street and strip: needs to run hard, be reliable for Mama and handle, not a 67 drum brake 350 horsepower car. Mine (an example of many cars from other club menebers) the 455( the 400E on on a engine stand) is running close to 500-HP on 93 octane, (Have the build sheet this is not a cheap motor) runs at 165-180 degrees in Texas heat, way many too other upgrades from stock car but to mention a few, L60x15 inch Diamondback redline tires in the rear with 215x15 Diamondback redline tires in the front all mounted on 4 new Cragar mags, solid core U joints on a prepped drive shaft, front disk brakes from a 72 Cutlass all replaced and restored with NEW GM parts, late model GM 8.5 inch rear 3:55 gear, holley-125 electric fuel pump, 8AN braided fuel line to the Dean Oliver prepped Q-jet, 3 inch mandrell bent exhaust to the spin torques and 2.5 out the back, M-21 4-speed, RAM power grip clutch and pressure plate, white with "Mother of all Pearl paint" currently have new hides sown up for an interior up grade and Vintage A/C and heat in the works. (I removed all the factory A/C and heating system) If someone is going to purchase that kind of car for 25K, hell I MAY sell this 67 and put the $$$ towards my 64 F-85 "post" build. Of course it is a matter of to each their own. But it makes no more sense for you to question others values that it does for them to question yours. We all have our reasons for having and/or liking what we have and/or like. "The point" is as varied as our cars are. So "values" are likewise varied.

There is no need for everyone to agree in this respect. We (here on C.O.) all start with Oldsmobiles. But the forks in the road begin right after that and multiply quickly.

Yes indeed WMACHINE, it all varies from person to person on their own conceived value thus not everbody will always agree on the same subject. I am just making some interesting noise and it really what makes the world go round? Thats all.
