1970 Rear suspention info

So My Rallye 350 has a set of over load springs on the rear shocks I know the car was used to pull a small pop up trailer in 71 by the photos of the car from the original owner. My question is On the heavy duty suspentions form from rallye 350 order sheet did Oldsmobile have any come with over load springs on the shocks. Im looking at getting some repop shocks form fusick for Inline or a set of KYB and do the hurst sticker kit you can get on ebay If the springs were a dealer or factory thing I would do spirals for sure other wise I have to see how many points I would loose for the shocks in judgeing kyb hurst vs ?? I do know that there were and I dont have it in front of me some Hd rear supentions for towing and wagons that one could get . ???

Coil over cargo shocks were probably added by the previous owner to handle the towing as you stated. If they are still good they will add to the height of the rear of the car. So by going to a standard shock the rear stance will drop. If you want to see just by how much remove the shocks and lower the car back to the ground. Then make your decision on a direction.

I just need to know if coils were part of any of the Hd rear that COULD have been had with the Rallye that year I know there were 2 or 3 add on suspentions that were on the order sheet . im not saying what i have is stock or oem. I think the ones I have are not stock the shocks are also add on from Napa would be my first thought the original owner worked for napa back when car was new. I cant remember my wild aboout cars log in info to help search either cant get it from home network at this time .

Rallye's came std. with the FE2 suspension, which would not have included any type of coilover, but it doesn't mean that the original owner didn't have the dealer install them, or install them at a later date.

Thanks oldcutlass thats what I was looking for . The FG2 HD shocks ?? and the G-66 super lift shocks what are they . Did either of them come as overloaded shocks I know mine on the car or at least think they are not stock not trying to say they are . I Will try to call the original owner and see if he can remember what up with them.

G66 super lift were air shocks. As the FG2 HD shocks were not part of the Rallye pkg. then they might have been dealer installed.

This is easy. Shocks with overload springs were NOT available from the factory. Aftermarket only.
