Body Mounts
Was looking to change the body mounts in my 68 442 converible. Where can I get the mounts/hardware and how hard of a job is this to do? Also what are the symptoms of bad mounts? Noise? Stance? Any info would help. Thanks

It depends on how rusty your car is.
There are between 14 and 16 mounts, depending on year and model.
Some of the mounts are like hockey pucks, with no thru bolts.
The radiator support mounts and the cowl mounts have bolts and nuts.
You need to remove the inner fenders to get to the cowl nuts.
The bumpers need to be loose and dropped down a bit as well.
The real issue are the mounts with the cage nuts - the ones that are are inside the body. If you break the bolt, or spin the cage nut, then there is floor surgery to get at it.
I do one side at a time, and jack the body up about 2" by putting a 2"x4" on the rocker, and gently lifting.
If the bolts come out, it is about a 2 hour job. If you have cage nut issues, multiply by at least 5.....

I had all mounts changed on my 69 conv. I was getting a loud bang when I hit a pothole or bump, was later found to be the bushing under rad support. My car wasnt a very rusty car but it did still involve cutting out and welding new metal.
