motorcycles/dirtbikes
Ive been thinking about motorcycles/dirt bikes today(you will know why by the end of the post). I'll start off by saying i started on a 19?? honda 70cc? i never really new what it was. My dad got the honda when he was in high school and kept it untill i was old enough to ride it. By 2006 my dad sold it and i went without a bike for a little while untill my dad gave me his 1980 yamaha xt250, he bought it in about 85. Ive had it for about 3 years now. In november of 2009 we moved back to washington and after years of asking about it my aunt gave me a kawasaki kd80 dirt bike. Then a few months ago me and my dad saw a dirt bike sitting on a trailer and it looked like the guy was getting ready to make a dump run so we stopped and asked about it and he said i could have it, and he gave me everything he could find that went to it, its a 1978 yamaha yz125. Now today i got a 1980 or 81 suzuki ts250 givin to me, i havent brought it home yet but it seems pretty cool. I feel pretty lucky, ive got four motorcycle to my name and havent spent a cent to get them, thay all need work though. I would like to see others dirtbikes and some stories about them.
ill post pics of mine next time i get them out.

Go BIG...or GO HOME.....
I don't have a small bike but I did manage to get this very sweet deal on a 1986 Honda Goldwing Aspencade for $1000. The bike hadn't been ridden in 5 years and had to do a lil work on the carbs and fresh fuel and new fuel filter. It has about 45K miles on it and has lots of life left in it I live the bike. Good luck with your finds. Hope they turn out as well as mine did. Oldsdroptop

thanks for replying and thanks for the luck. Come on guys you must have stories, i dont think a guy can go through life without atleast having one encounter with a motorcycle or dirtbike.

My mom wouldn't get me a dirt bike when i was young, because she thought I might hurt myself.
Therefore I just built some on my own...

I think mom was lying - she was never too concerned, but she never saw the wheelies...
If that weren't enough terror for the neighborhood, I had a built up go kart, too...

I started out on a 1966 Honda S90 as a lot bike at 14, at 16 I bought a 1977 KZ400 as my 1st road bike followed by a 1976 KZ900 the following year. I've have my 1986 FXRS LowRider for quite a few years, it will probably be my last bike.

Great story. I learned to ride at the age of 10. My first bike was..ready for this.... was a green Kaw KD 80! I kid you not. This was in 1975. I rode this bike until I was a teenager. My next bike was a Kaw 125. a little bigger but I was able to ride it more on the street (alot of good stories there). that bike lasted me until HS. I bought my first "real" street bike a KZ 750 in my late teens early 20's. Life some times take twist and turns you dont expect and soon I found myself married with a child and a bike in the garage that didnt get ridden very much. I sold it. That was in the late 80's. As my child grew older I figured it was time to hop back on the two adventure machine and in 1997 I bought brand new a Honda Shadow 1100. I rode it for a couple of years and at that time a bought my current bike a 2001 Harley Davidson RoadKing. This was 3 days after 911 and President Bush said "Everyone should continue to buy American products and support American manufactures" Well maybe that's not exactly what he said but it was a sound enough reason to buy my HD. In my mind I did my part. Well thats been almost 10 years ago and 38K miles and I"m still enjoying riding my RoadKing. The freedom of riding a motorcycle changed me in ways I can't explain, but it sounds like you're well on your way of finding out by yourself. My only advice to you is to respect your bike for it is an extention of your soul. Ride to Live...Live to Ride. I see we have the same taste in cars also. Love the Delta 88 Custom. Good luck with both of them.

Been riding bikes for over 40 years, starting with a Honda 50, 10-12 in between now a Harley road king and Honda ST1300, excellent stress relievers. It is realy hard to beat the Harley's, not as fast but I find them a better quality bike and love the exhaust sound.

I/ve had a few....
here is a pic of a Suzuki Katana (attached) , I rebuilt and painted when I was assigned to an airbase in Italy, (Brindisi) it kept me out of the "Taverna's" at night for a year or so, really a lot of fun, also a pic of taking my Daughter for her first ride ( many Moons ago) in Greece. not a big bike, but a lot of fun around the islands..

To say the least!
I sure like those old bikes, even if they are kick start.
Looks like I never posted a picture of my real bike, a '99 XLH883...
This is from the 2007 annual Teddy Bear Run, benefiting the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center.
