To Swap The Rear End or The Gears... That Is The Question..
So fellas I've got a question for you.
I'm in the process of finishing overhauling my engine in Outlaw, my 83 Olds' Delta 88 Royale Brougham. I'm hoping to swap my interior & slap some paint on in spring time, so I have my summer bruiser I've been dreaming of.. but those of you familiar with B/C Bodies know they are geared super tall in the rear end (mine is 2:23), and I want to fix that.
So, do you guys think it would be easier to swap in a different gear ratio into my stock rear end (do they evin make gears that fit that rear end?)
or
Swap out my rear end for a unit with a low gear ratio (what would I find a GM rear end with a low gear ratio that fits a B-Body in anyways)?
I really want something pretty dang low, such as 3:93/4:10, my car is equipped with the 4 spd w/OD to compensate at speed.
I live in California so tuning the engine/engine swaps are pretty much out of reach for me. I'm looking to build this thing just to last a summer, or two, the cars a basket case but its my first car so I want that "last hurrah" with it.
If known, where can I purchase a set of gears for the rear end??
Any suggestions, knowledge, and experience would be greatly appreciated!!
