Does anyone know where I can buy the correct all black seals that are "SUPPOSE TO MEASURE .490 at least"

thanks for replying Fun71, but according to some of the guys on here, the black and gold ones wont prevent leaking. Not really sure why I cant find the bigger ones online.

Get in touch with Monzaz (Jim at JD Race). I think he was the one who alerted us about the seal differences, and he may be able to get you the right seal.

If I remember correctly, this is concerning the "Set 9" type O differentials. The new seals are only .470 thick. The originals were .495 or so, so they don't seal against the inner differential seal face.
The inner face needs to be more shallow for the .470" seal to work. That would mean welding and re-machining or a possibly a .025-.030" spacer of compatible material that would seal. I PM'ed Jim a while back when this seal problem popped up. The thread died out and I got distracted, so nothing went further.

you can try skf 16735 they say .470 but seem to be pretty good.
If it were me I would really try to find the straight non tapered bearing made from ANY COUNTRY then the seal will not make a difference.

Just looking in my big National seal book it looks like a 470460 might work and it is .500 thick. The od is a little smaller but should still be a press fit. Might be worth trying ?

What is the actual application ? YMM ? I have some older books I can look through.

I have a 1972 8.5 olds rear. Been through a few sets of tapered bearings that still leak. Just trying to find a solution and get it back on the road. Thanks for replying.
