What a difference 12 years makes

Bought my 56 2 door hardtop as a retirement project, didn't realize how much work it was to retire. Got started as a clean up in the engine compartment, and without a clear cut plan in mind evolved into an on frame restoration. The project languished when I found myself scraping and wire brushing the underside of the car.....not fun. Finally finished that in Jan and started doing the fun part. Since starting in 2000, Have rebulit the rear end, new springs, gas shocks, new bushings, reconditioned the gas tank, new fuel line and electric pump with filter. Up front, customized the fire wall and added dual circuit power brakes with new rear cylinders, new lines, disc brakes, gas shocks, new bushings, custom coil springs, cleaned and painted all the fender liners, panels, and electric wipers. Am in process of adding power steering, alternator and A/C. Engine has reworked heads, cam, tanson rear main seal, spin on oil filter, stainless bolts, custom water pump pulley, customized harmonic balancer, new oil pump, new starter and visible goodies. Will make an attempt to attach engine pics. Chuck

Sounds like quite a retirement project! '56 was definitely a good looking year, body wise.

Did mine before I retired, for some reason I no longer have time now that I don't have to go to work.

Thats what happens when the MAW gets you....Tedd

Congrats on sticking to it over 12 years. Now that the fun stuff has started, hopefully you'll be itching to finish it soon. Engine looks great, how's the rest of the car look?

Nice work! I went to the spin on oil filter also. Sure makes oil change a lot easier. Can't wait to see the pictures of your car.
