External Regulator

I have just finished installing a One wire alternator. My question is what do I do with the external regulator thats bolted on the fire wall.It has 4 or 5 wires going to it. I took the brown wire and cut it and attached it to the alternator for the idiot lite to work.Is the regulator just for the stock alternator.Since the new alternators are internal regulated what should I do with the other one.

I just found the answer.Sometimes I write in before I look at other posts.I look at the other threads and it said to not connect the brown wire but if the alternator went out dont you want the lite to come on?

How did you connect the idiot light wire if it is a one-wire alternator? That would make it a two-wire alternator.

well I hooked up the red power wire from the Alternator to the Horn relay and then used a pigtail that is pluged in the side of the Alt. The pigtail has a red and white wire coming out of it.I put an end on the red wire and hooked it on the back of the alternator where the main Red power wire goes and the white wire is attached to the brown wire from the regulator so it would work the lite. I guess you dont have to use the pigtail but I did.
