Working through everything but now am to the point of the electrical and have wires that I do not know where they go. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 72 Cutlass S or know of a source to obtain one??

get yourself a service manual

careful to get a service manual not a body manual for the wiring (I think - if I am wrong someone will surely point it out)
7 on ebay right now

Good advice on the shop book. All A-body V8 engine wiring is the same those years. 350, 455, makes no difference.
Something tells me you've found the transmission controlled spark wiring. That throws a lot of folks esp if the TCS has been disabled or removed.

that is the 1st I have heard of TCS on a 72 - but I guess I am getting old and am reminded of trans controlled throttle on Jetaways...
or was that an Oldsmobile dream too? (trust me I am having them)
