Where is my turn signal flasher?

This sounds so simple, I am almost embarrassed to post it. The blink rate on the turn signal lamps (left and right) is very slow. I want to replace the flasher unit, but can't find it on my 1968 98. Where is that little bugger?

Up under the dash to the left of the steering column - it should be clipped to a piece of the supporting structure.

I don't know about a 68 98 but most of them plugged into the fuse panel if I remember correctly which is exactly where you said it is Eric.

Nope. The 4-way flasher plugs into the fuse block.

The signal light flasher is on a pigtail clipped under the left side of the dash.

Good thing I said "if I remember correctly". Close but no cigar. Thanks for keeping me straight Eric. I just added an aftermarket underdash 4-way flasher to my 54 last weekend. I first tied into the horn relay for power and the horn blew when the lights flashed.

Yeah, I have no idea where it would be on a '54, of course, so that's a whole different thing.

And I have no idea why GM chose to put one flasher on the fuse block and another in a completely different place, but I guess they had their reasons.

MDchanic and redoldsman,
Thanks for the info. I will get my liniment and tylenol ready, perform my best pretzel act, and crawl under the dash. I wish I could have seen the expression on redoldsmans' face as the horn blew when the lights flashed! Very funny story. My gearhead neighbor and I got a good laugh.
