$150 trunk key
bought my car with no trunk key, so i pulled the back seat, crawled thru and removed the striker. now i use a screwdriver for now. when my gm documentation came back it said key codes were still available for my 65, thats cool cuz no trunk key means no glove box or console key. so i went to the local gm and ordered the key codes, they want $45 to search for them, ok. plus order two gm trunk keys @ $5 each, ok plus taxes, the keys and codes came in but gm's machine wont accept the old codes, so i go to a locksmith. $22 to cut a key from a code plus 2.99 for a third cheap key to try so i didnt ruin a gm key. key didnt fit my trunk lock but did fit the console and glove box, perfect, can you key the trunk lock to fit original key? no problem he says. that cost another $45, plus $13 for a spring that was wore out, plus another $10 for tax. now i know this i coulda used a trunk lock and matching glovebox i have on a parts car here and rekeyed the console (for $45) live and learn
