2013 OCA Nationals July 23-28 Springfield IL

Who is going?

I just made reservations at the near by Holiday Inn Express. They said there are not many rooms left at the lower OCA rates. I did not check with the host hotel. We should get there with the jetfire on the 24th and leaving the 28th.

I plan to. I'm aiming to have my car done by then & take it there. If its not done, we'll prolly just go for a day since its only about a 2.5 hrs away from us...

I don't know exactly how many will be caravaning to Springfield, but suspect it will be 8-10 cars. We plan to arrive on Wednesday, and leave Sunday. Will post more as details become clearer. Looking forward to the Nationals, once again.

I didn't plan to but i will have to think about it. It would be neat to see a Jetfire on the track but it sure isn't a race car and i can't race a tree worth a crap. I need an MX style gate drop. I was unbeatable at a gate drop.

I know i won't if i don't have the fluid leak fixed by then. Also, my transmission guy said this transmission will not hold up if i try to race it from a dead stop much.

The races at OCA Nationals aren't just for serious racers. A lot of bone-stock show cars come too. The purpose of the race is to have fun.

Looking to come up from Florida with the F-85 in the trailer, behind the motorhome, and getting there late Tues. afternoon. Staying at an RV campground near the event. Leaving late morning on Sunday. Going towards Chi-town to see a Viet Nam vet I was friends with in the SeaBees, two tours in 67' and 68'. Then over to Jackson, Mich. to see my body/painters new shop, then on to Stanton, Mich. for Pure Stock Muscle Car drags!

Anyone know of a good cheap RV campground near the event? Any info/help would be appericated! Thanks.

W-31 won't be done by then as I would love to show it and race it. I should be there regardless, probably selling in the swap meet, but we'll see.

junior supercar:

Sorry no, not going to put any more money in the F-85, since I bought the 70' bracket race car. Going to race the F-85 "as is".

I'm probably going to make the trip up for at least a day but doubt if I take the '67 since it's just a clone.

Jensen are you bringing your Jetfire? I just got the last room at the Holiday Inn Express in the OCA block this afternoon. You can still get a room at the Crowne for $169 and change at their non OCA rate. $89 at HIX is more my speed. I'm bringing my '63 Cutlass. Hope to meet you there. I didn't know you had a trio of kicka** Oldsmobiles.

I will have the Jetfire there... the red one in the picture is for sale. i have another 70 W-30 i am going to restore then likely have to sell the Rallye 350. I don't need and can't afford three cars. I would sell them all before i sold the Jetfire. We really enjoy that car.

I booked the Holiday Inn, it's been many moons since staying at a Holiday, that's so I can feel smarter the next morning or at least a little lighter in the wallet.

Should I be aware of anything?
I booked through the group agent at the hotel she said of 1-7-13 two double beds rooms left I think I got the one of two, charge was $89.00 + taxes.

I got reservations at the crown a couple months ago. At the time I called a guy at the archway club and he said more info would come in JWO. Havent seen any. Today I thought about it again and still no info on OCA site or my chapters site (REOlds). So I found a registration form from a newsletter for the Archway Club and printed it, Filled out and sent with a check. Hope it works. Seems a little pricey for the tours etc. Hope to see some of you there.

I received my JWO about a week ago, back cover has the registration form, I also started to fill it out, not complete yet do to the schedule does anybody have events each day of the show? I always judge and that along with being a salesman at my dealership dictates my arrival time!

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I cannot find anywhere on the OCA website a mention of the 2013 Nationals. Certainly, there's no link to either of the two chapters hosting the show nor any link to a registration form. Am I missing something?

Also, does anyone else find very annoying the little scroll of chapters along the bottom of the screen? It's not complete, and the icons are so small that it's sometimes difficult to read what chapter you're clicking on. If these are the only links to the chapters, they should be LARGER.

Also, if you click on "About" and then "Chapters" at the top of the page, you get a nice listing of all the chapters, BUT NOT A SINGLE LINK TO ANY OF THEIR WEBSITES! What the h is going on? This is the World Wide Web! It's all about links! C'mon OCA, get with it!

with last years and this years meets so close to Chicago I said I would go to one of them, but.... haven't made a decision yet. Probably should go but with it in July and 4 kids, non of who would be interested in a car show, I most likely will go by myself. Guess its close enough I can go for the day or just two days. Any info on schedule yet?

Agreed, the info. is very scarce! There is a downloadable registration form and that is about it! But in the last JWO our president was very proud of the progress on the website and that new things were on the way.

Icons for chapters are far from complete, size o.k. could be larger?

Exactly! I looked for links for either of the two host chapters (Archway and Illinois Valley), and that little scroll along the bottom of the page has neither!

Where are you seeing this? I've not been able to find it.

When you go to the OCA home page, the FIRST thing you should see at the top of the page is a link to the registration form for the nationals if it's available. There's nothing at all about this.

If you click at the top of the page on News & Events and then choose Event Schedule, there's nothing. Just a listing of 10 events that have all already taken place. Worthless.

If you click on News & Events and then National Meets, SURELY there will be information about the 2013 show, right? Nope. Not at all. The only thing there about the 2013 show is a link to the brochure, not a registration form, and the brochure says that registration opens on August 15, 2012. Well, we're WAY PAST that date, so why isn't there now a link to the registration form or at least a link to the chapters hosting the show?!?!

Ugh!

Yes, you are correct, trying to keep an eye on the customers coming in and the also the boss, clicked only a flier! **** poor support. This has been the computer age for at least 15-20 yrs it's time for the OCA to get out the caveman stage.
