Carburator finishes

I plan on soaking, cleaning and rebuilding my Quadrajet soon, are there are finishes or suggestions on how to make the carb look like new in your very own garage? Thx.

Please don't use carb cleaner, it will remove the gold finish, and you will be left with a gray color. I would take it apart and clean as necessary with a spray brake clean product, then air dry. There are vendors that can recolor/replate if you're looking for a better than new look.
Good Luck, and post a pic when you're finished.)

Eastwood sells a carb renew spray but it's not cheap and haven't read any reviews on it so don't know how well it works. Anybody on here ever used this stuff? Saw one of the car shows on TV use it and it looked great but that's TV....actual results may vary quite a bit.

eastwood's paint is just that, paint, alkyd iirc. doesn't really look very good, but can make a turd look better, it doesn't hold up to carb. cleaner or other cleaners well. we use it upon request when the customer doesn't wish to spend the money on a proper re-finishing.

Thanks guys, I'll take that advice. I'll rebuild the carb as needed now and send it off to get it professionally plated etc at a later date.
