Yea, the stripes are backwards. I did just get the car and still am undecided on what I'm going to do with it. The "U" code is a 455cu.in. The REAL reason I bough the car was because of the rarity factor. The numbers I found show it to be one of 123 made. The "POST" cars are my favorites and the car is extremely solid, has a VERY nice W-25 hood w/ breather, and the price was right. One of my ideas (I'm full of them) was to build another Nostalgia Stocker or Super Stocker---I really don't want to hurt the '69. the other '72 I have is also a stick and wouldn't want to race that one so maybe that is what I'll do. My wife thinks I need a brain examination!!!!!!!!!

To answer the question, a U-code is a 455/automatic combo. V-code is the same with a stick (presumably a 4-speed - I'm guessing 3-speeds were not available with the 455 by 1972). An X-code, of course, is a W-30.

Love dem '72 posts!

No, the car was painted when I got it. It is Sikkens BC-CC and the paint is OK--not perfect, but pretty good. The vinyl top has a split in one of the seams and I have a new top to be installed. I'm in the process of cleaning and doing some under-hood detailing. When I get some new photos, I'll TRY to post them (I'll probably need my nephew to help again).

Nice post coupe Dave!

Yes, Diego, all V Codes were M20 4 speeds.

Very nice looking, just turn the hood 180 degrees, and you'll have cowl induction

Interesting car. It looks like someone didn't get the hood or the side stripes right (didn't you and i just have this conversation on Mother's Day? lol!) By the way, my significant other is 110% behind my 442 habit, so i got you beat there .

Luckily, the side stripes are decals (tape stripes) and I think I can remove them fairly easily. I want to do the vinyl top A.S.A.P. I might try some new side stripes myself---if I can find the time. My father always told me,"The older you get, the faster the time goes"--BOY WAS HE RIGHT ABOUT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
