"Delcotron" decal
I'm seeing more and more restored cars (mostly '64 and up 442s) with a "Delcotron" decal on the Alternator. I don't remember seeing this growing up. I know sometimes Restoration companies 'create' items for sale. Is this a legitimate detail and if so what is are the applications?

All I've ever seen them on are 62-63 GM cars. Delcotron was introduced mid-year 1962 and as with any "new" gizmus they wanted you to know beyond any doubt what was on your car- same as they used to announce "POWER STEERING" and "POWER BRAKE" on the steering wheel and brake pedal. It's a neat touch but not required for an accurate restoration past 1964.

Thanks Rocket. What prompted my question was the Hemming Muscle Machines latest article on the two '70 W-30 442s. The Coupe looks to have this decal on his alternator and I've never seen it on cars past the early/mid '60s until recently. I love all the tags and stickers and decals as much as the next guy so I didn't want to 'miss out' on one but I hate when it's overdone or doen't belong there it looks rediculous.
