Did I do good?

Ok today I took a 2plus hour drive to check out a craigslist ad. It was for an engine that was in pieces. What was claimed was worked heads, roller rockers, 2 high performance cams, distributor Edelbrock intake and 350 block and internals. Well The heads are #8's but they have been worked on. They appear to have been milled. The intake ports have been ported and polished. There are roller tipped rockers. There are two cams one is an Edelbrock. There are lifters and pushrods, a better fuel pump. So here are pics of most of what I got. I bought it all for $400. Let me know how I did.

Here's more. Now the block looks good but I can't spin it by hand. I have yet to put a bolt on the crank and try to turn it. I was told the engine was over rev'd. There was some milky sludge in the pan when I took it off when I got it home. Not sure what that means. Cracked block? Cranked head? Head gasket? Or just water getting in the oil while the block sat?

BTW all of this stuff was loaded into my room mates Dodge Dynasty. She was nice enough to let me haul all of it in her car. I was surprised it took it so well.

All for 400. Sounds like you did all right to me. The milky sludge could be caused by a number of things and the only way to tell would be to clean up the block and start tearing it down. might be a head gasket and that would be an easy fix, first I guess is to see if you can get it to spin over.
