Difference in Bumpers????
#4
But they will bolt up... as long as you have the tail lights and brackets the 1970-72 rear bumpers will physically fit on any of those years and any of the Cutlass/442 models except for the wagons. I ran a 1970 rear bumper on a 1971 Cutlass Supreme for years. At the time, that was the best bumper I could come up with and nobody except Olds people knew the difference. John

Does the 442 bumpers look a bit more sportier than the regular Supreme bumpers? I bought the hood with the louvers from someone and waiting on it and I'm thinking about those bumpers as well to change my look a bit...

To answer the original question, within a given year, ALL Cutlii (442s, Supremes, F85s, etc) use the same bumpers - with the obvious exception that 442s and the W-32 SX got the cutout bumper. This applies to all 2drs, 4drs, and convertibles. Wagons use the same front bumper but different rear bumper. With the exception of 1971/72, all bumpers are one year only. Also, some years had optional rub strips on the bumpers. These are the same as the regular bumpers except for the mounting holes for the rub strips.

Hey Trav...the bumpers with the cut outs make a huge difference, and they really set the car off nicely. You should get the hood this Thursday or Friday. Sorry it took so long to get it out to you.

Looking at the bumpers, I don't really know if it will be worth it to spend the money to switch...the bumpers I have right now are in pretty good shape. Joe it's no problem, I was starting to get a little nervous though, some people will rip you off in a heart beat online...I've had those experiences. I'm glad it's on the way though, can't wait to bolt it on and drop the car off to get some body work done. Thanks man!
