How to destroy body panels and pretend you didn't....

I am always on the hunt for '65 stuff when I came across this ad. Have a look at the hood and deck lid pictures - they are so badly warped that calling them scrap metal is an insult to scrap metal. Unrepairable.
Obviously he had some knuckle dragger media blast his car with road gravel and distorted every panel on the car . I'm sure there is 60lbs of filler in those quarters now.
I mean really?? This guy must know his panels are %$#ed. And only $6500 - what a bargain.

It looks like the surface metal is melted onto the supports. I've never seen anything like it.

...but, but, it's ALL the same color....

What a shame to see that happen to a diminishingly available body style.

500 PSI and black beauty media, haha. I used to sand blast submarines in dry dock back in the day. 4-5 tons of black beauty a day for a two man crew. I stopped when I opened up my knee practically down to the bone one day.

You're right, the guy should have been shot who did this. That's just dumb.

Napoleon.....how do you find these cars way off in such far away places? My two hamburgers were just settling nicely before I spotted this !!
How is it people want so much for their cars, and I didn't even get a nibble on mine? Hmmm......I'd better not sulk, the wife will smack me.....

I hear ya. I own a media blasting company and we do plenty of restorations - THE RIGHT WAY! It's work like that I have an uphill battle convincincing some body/paint men that I will not warp your panels. I've seen botched work but the panels in that ad are worse than anything I've ever seen.
I've had Barret Jackson level cars come through with nary an issue. (shameless self promotion - www.sureblast.ca)
I've embedded garnet in my skin on a few occasions. Pain hurts...

DAVE! - use 'adhuntr' - it searches all of craigslist.

Napoleon, I was watching the slide show from your website and there's a pic of a frame before and after. What's the purpose of the tape over the body mount holes?

Just curious.

I can't remember exactly but typically something like that is customer driven. Mask this, cover that - you get the idea.

A friend of mine once told me, "experience is what you get after you needed it". Now in the past I've usually paid for my experience, not sold it for a kings ransom.

Trip brought up a good point with the masking and it made me think. I wonder if this car had filler previous and they tried to remove it with media. The shop my dad work for used a striper ti lift the filler off vs. Trying to take it off with the media and warping the panel. I remember I did a set of w31 fenders for a friend and I made no big deal of the little w31 stickers. Well the are where the sticker was ., was slightly raised. Which he didn't mind since now he had a positive location for the decals. But imagine it on a bigger scale.

Maybe that guy's car is the start of a new trend, like rap music, or something. Perhaps I just don't understand it. I'm still an old fashioned Beatles kind of fellow, and I don't like to see my cars internal structuring, unless it's up on a hoist, maybe.

I like my cars straight and shiny. Guess I'm old-fashioned.
