Looking for normal amp draw for a '72 350 2bbl starter.

Like it says, I suspect solenoid is bad but wanted to test first. Service manual is at a friends or I'd check there.
I did a quick search here & didn't find what I needed.
Thanks for any help,
Scott

The solenoid I suspect 10-12 through the ignition switch, the starter itself can draw 250ish depending on load. What are your symptoms?

Starts easily when cold, after a drive & shut down & heat soak the starter is slow to crank over. Pretty sure all the obvious things are in order, good battery, terminals, grounds, etc... But have not had the time to give more than a cursory look at anything yet.
I wanted to put an amp gauge on the batt. cable cold & hot to check the difference.

Your issue is normally related to dirty or bad cable connections at the battery or starter. Same with the ground cable. Double check your purple wire connection at the solenoid. It could also be a pitted and corroded disc in the solenoid.

If none of the above worn brushes in the starter.
