motor mounts to lower engine?

Just wondering if motor mounts differ from manufacture to manufacture as far as how high the motor sits? and is there a way to know. The reason for asking is I'm looking to lower motor 1/2" to make a little more room under hood.

The motor is as low as it can go with the stock mounts. The oil pan to crossmember clearance is the limiting factor.

Thanks Joe, I was not thinking about that. I was thinking of possible pinion angle change issues. I currently have 3/16" clearance but looking for a little more without major modifications. Even if I could get 1/4" more would be nice. I'll figure something out.

The easiest thing would be to slot the holes in the motor mounts where they bolt to the block.

I wonder if it's worth welding the old holes up once happy.

At the risk heat damaging the rubber, probably not.
