Water Jacket Volume for 1970 Rocket 350 - Casting# 395558 2
Hi,
I am trying to measure the water jacket volume of my 1970 Rocket 350, casting #3955582. I’ve prepared the bare block (excluding the expansion plugs to retain water during measurement) by blowing out the passages with compressed air followed by pressure washing to ensure no deposits or debris remain, aiming for more accurate measurements. Here are the results:
• Passenger side jacket (for pistons 2, 4, 6, 8): 2.3 liters
• Driver side jacket (for pistons 1, 3, 5, 7): 2.19 liters
I am unsure if this difference is normal, and whether these figures are typical. If anyone has standard figures or has conducted similar measurements, it would be helpful to know if these volumes indicate remaining deposits (resulting in lesser volume) or if the volume is higher than normal (possibly due to excessive corrosion eroding the metal from inside).
Thanks for any insights!
