Where does this go?

I noticed this was a little out of place when I was troubleshooting the brake lights on my '72 Supreme. It was up under the dash on the driver side against the foot well and near the steering column. I'm assuming it's some sort of insulation/seal, and would like to put it back

Does anyone know?

Dave - No clue, but it would appear it slides around/onto a cable of some type & most likely a cable which protrudes through the firewall or floorboard?

That's my guess also Norm....would any of the manuals show where it would go?

Not sure...could be a month of Sundays trying to find it I suspect. I don't believe I've ever looked specifically for insulation/dampener material in any manual...sorry. I'd begin looking at items which protrude through the firewall/floor board. I mean there might be some chance it's involved in the heating &/or AC system but I can't think of a specific area.

I was just looking at that in the PIM - could be. There are 8 insulator holes in the firewall. Obviously this would be driver side.

A couple diagrams from the 72 PIM something may come to mind. I'll see if my 71 PIM is more readable.

At least you can read the numbers on this '71 PIM diagram. You'll have to zoom in with your Browser, but it's far more readable. Good Luck.

It appears to be the same material as the firewall pad. Look around for a similar shaped hole in the pad.

Shooting from the hips. Places like this behind something? Brake pedal? Good luck.

It's made to go around the brake booster rod, but it didn't quite fit well enough to stay in place, so I'm just gonna keep it for posterity...lol
