1971 Cutlass gas cap help

I have a 1971 Cutlass Supreme conv., 350 4 BBL carb.
I'd like to replace the gas cap on the fuel tank and purchased on from OPGI that they said would fit.

Tried it and it was so tight that I couldn't even turn it easily. Comparing the new one ( MGC807 - Motorad) to the original there were some size differences.

I've looked all over and the pictures that are shown on places like Ebay, Amazon and YearOne all show pretty much a stock picture.

Anyone have a good replacement source for one that is more like the original ?

Thanks in advance.

I use this one from rock auto. Works just fine. Sometimes it is a little tight getting off. But before this cap there were always stains on the bumper from fuel sloshing past the cap.

Have you checked with your local auto parts store? No reason to buy a common item such as this from a restoration house. Rock Auto is a good source, but verify the shipping charge as it can be quite a bit. Your local parts store may have the same part number without the shipping charge.

Due to the fact that Rock Auto shipping can be expensive, I always get the part number and then check Amazon. Sometimes they may be a little higher but with no shipping the net cost is less.

My neighborhood autoparts store shows it for $8.49 and available for pickup in 3 hours (has to be delivered to them from the warehouse).

So, what I decided to try was to take the rubber gasket out of the one that I got from OPGI and replace the original 53 year old gasket with the new one.
Guessing that the new rubber gasket will be easiest solution.
Thanks to all.
