All the ones I've seen/removed have oval holes to allow for adjustments.

I don't know if it varied from plant to plant, but I'm used to seeing round. Attached is a picture with the bolt/washer still in place. At least I think this is the mounting hole your asking about. John

Mounts

Far be it for me to compare notes with you John, you've disassembled 10x what I have {at least}, but I've never taken pictures, so I was relying on memory, what seemed practical, and the PIM. Which as we all know is/are perfectly infallible.

Bruce, look at the edges of the holes in your core support. I'm guessing its rusty enough that your not sure, but if you can see a sharp edge anywhere maybe you can distinguish if it was round or oval.

Brett, the one thing I can contribute is pictures. Lots of dead cars have passed through my driveway and with my memory, I have to take pictures to keep track of what is what!

Yellowstatue, this is an old photo but would have been accurate for today. Last week we had snow, today was sunny and the high was 65 degrees. If you want to escape the frozen North I really like the climate in Southern Oregon. There's a lot of old iron here too and typically only minor rust in the problem areas.

Thanks everyone I thought it was originally slotted. I have a picture of mine just after it was removed from the car. I am having a problem uploading the picture can someone tell me how I should be doing it.

thanks Bruce

John, Yellow, Gary, a larger round hole makes sense too, easier to make a punch for the hole, and then use the square washer to accommodate, thus giving the flexibility to adjust. I stand corrected , and Bruce has his clarification.

looking at the other pictures , most probably mine was round. I think I can probably check the diameter of the bushing and weld in a washer.

thanks Bruce
