Recommended fluids

Hello everyone, on a 1955 super 88 324 Engine with a 4 barrel what is the recommendation for oil, Auto trans fluid, power steering fluid and fuel, thank you very much.

You will need motor oil with high zinc content. When I had my 54 I used Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil. Others will recommend other oils but it has to have high zinc content due to the flat tappet cam. You could also buy ZDDP and add to you oil to get the zinc. Use Dexron transmission fluid for the transmission and power steering.

I use Rotella T4 15W-40 in my 71. It's never caused any problems.

For fuel I would look for an ethanol free source reasonably close, unfortunately I don't have that option. Next best would be a Top Tier brand premium. Premium may not be necessary but it is advertised to have higher detergency than regular plus if the octane degrades from sitting you started out at a higher octane offsetting some of the degradation.

I ran mid-grade 89 octane in the 54 and never had any issues.

I believe I get ethanol free gas here but is 90 it should be good, thanks
