Going to 550 hp

Can this 7.5 rearend handle the power on slicks original rearend on 83 hurst/olds

Not just no but hell no!! My one any only experience with power / slicks and 7.5 was a broken rear the first day and that was only 375hp.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Good one!

If you can afford to build a motor with that kind of power, you can afford a proper trans and built axle. I would suggest one of the 9" housings specifically set up for the G-body.
