1970 442 rear view mirror 12V hot??

I was swapping my mirror and noticed it has a wire going to it.
The wire has 12V BAT power at all times even with door closed. What is this for??

My mirror has a missing section at the bottom so I was assuming a maplight??

If it has constant 12v it's wired up wrong. Depending on year, it's only supposed to operate when either the lights or ignition are on. That's to avoid it killing the battery.

You should find its gray feed wire plugged into the fuse block.

Seems like one of the Olds vendors was repopping the lens/switch assembly a few years ago. I can't remember which one.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I don't want it to be 12V BAT , I'd rather it be 12V accessory so I
have to find out where it's powered from and change it.
