Steering Wheel
The steering wheel in my car is pathetic. It's the plastic "deluxe" version. I put a cover on it to hide the cracks and missing chunks, but it's time for a new one. I don't want to go with the original style because 1) I don't really like the style 2) good used ones are pricey and prone to crack just like the one I've got.
I like the 442 style and am leaning that way when I find a good reasonably priced one. Anybody got an aftermarket wheel they like that I should consider? As always, pics are worth a 1000 words.
Thanks for your input!

Are these 4-spoke wheels somehow color-keyed to the interior or were they all one color? If the latter, I know what direction i am going!
My deluxe wheel is also coming apart, driving the sharp aluminum into my hands.

I know that, but these are still nice to grip, the price was very good, and as you pointed out the original 3 spoke wheels are rare, pricey, and hard to find.

I wish I had a sport wheel for the wagon but I kinda like my Grand Prix wheel, makes it corner flatter
I would like to get the 4 spoke wheel for the 71, it's on my wish list!

Sport wheel from The Parts Place
Yesterday I installed my complete sport wheel kit from the Parts Place (to replace a broken crappy looking standard wheel). The entire kit with hub, horn button and wheel is $325.
The new wheel looks fantastic, and the kit fits very well. I posted pics and how-to here: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...all-repro.html
You will need to buy some #8-32 x 3/4" flat head machine screws to mount the wheel to the hub. I went to Lowes and got two packages of them in stainless from the special fasteners drawers there. They fit and look good even though the horn button covers them up. I'll be updating my interior thread soon and will have pics of the wheel installed.

70-77 Cutlass sport wheels all had black rims, but the hubs were painted to match the car interior.
75-77 Starfire/Omega sport wheels (the ones with "stitching") came color-keyed to car interior. Red, blue, saddle and black, and I swear I think I've seen a green one.
77-79 Cutlass/Delta sport wheels were also color-keyed to interior. These had only two spokes. They look good in most Olds too.
I think I'd go with the repop 70-77 Cutlass wheel on jeepinn's car. It's a pretty good bang for the buck.

Another GM sport wheel from the same era you could consider would be the Buick/Chevy 3 spoke sport wheel. Same hub(except has a clearance notch for the middle/bottom spoke), the spokes are brushed stainless and the rim is a slightly smaller diameter. These wheels have a different texture/grain vs. the Olds sport wheel...more like the grain/texture you see on your kickpanels and bucket seat plastics (but a slightly "smaller" version of that grain).
They also use the same horn button attaching ring so you could use an Olds Rocket horn button.
Availabe repro or used....Chevelle parts vendors probably have some pretty good deals on them.

Re Buick/Chevy wheel: That's funny because I see a lot of Chevy guys here trying to dig up a 4-spoke Olds wheel for their cars! They're always asking me if I know of any...
One of my buds is obsessed with 69 Chevrolet "rosewood" wheels. It's a running joke when we go to a swap meet how many he'll find and buy. Sure enough, last week at All-GM Carlisle he shows up at lunchtime with one draped over his arm!
I said "Marshall, just how many of those rosewood wheels do you have now?" He had to stop and think a minute- he finally said "I probably need to start buying some cars to put them on." He has 14 of them. He's very picky about them, but he'll turn loose the cash for one that meets his standards.
I can't say much- I have 4 full sets of Super Stock IV Polycasts taking up space.

The Starfire/Omega wheel does not work well in the 70-72 Cutlass as it is a smaller diameter wheel and blocks part of your view of the dash gauges. Henry

I probably have nearly a dozen Olds four spoke wheels (OK, some are actually installed on cars...), but Glenn, we need to talk about the SSIVs. My Custom Cruiser needs a set.
