Just a quick question does anybody know the exact location for side stripes on a regular 442
Were they start on front fender and were they end at rear quarter?
Any help is welcome Thanks for the help trying to be as original as possible

This one looks identical to v8al’s car, which is probably the best example so far.
This one looks like the portion over the front marker light runs more parallel to the ground rather than following the curve of the fender just above the light.
Pics of my 72 (Framingham built) from 1985 in mostly original paint with painted stripes looks like the gold car as far as the portion over the front marker light. However, my car may not be the greatest comparison being a 72. Obviously triple stripes rather than the double, for one thing.
I imagine they all varied some.

Difficult to measure accurately with the rolled area of the fender. Here are some additional pics.
I'd say the front starts about 1/4" from the lip. The rear is more difficult to measure.

Thanks for taking the time to measure your original stripes. The info is in the assembly manual but a pic helps to visualize. Really refreshing to see the base model stripes going back on too.

The 1970 PIM in section 1-4 page 150 references layout number 406101 for the stripe detail. Does anyone have a copy of layout 406101?
Not sure how these Phoenix Graphics stripes match up to the factory layout: 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W29 Stripes; Y73 Hood (non-AI)
One other thing to note (but may not apply to the 442 base side stripes) is that the Indy 500 graphic decals (PIM section 35Y74 page 104) call out: "Decals must end 3/16" from break in metal on both front and rear end of car."
