I am not an expert but I noticed the rear fender extensions are on. There is a gasket between them and looks like they were originally painted separate from the car. Either way I believe that car is gonna look sweet.
Nice work.

Hey Scrappie
I am not sure if I follow you?
I did get the new gaskets for the rear fender extensions but are you saying that they were painted separate from the factory?
Thanks for your comments I am getting pretty excited.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you.
What I mean is: The fender extension when removed is painted underneath and the quarter panel is also painted which would lead me to believe that the extension was painted off the car and the car was painted then the extension was installed.
I did this on a 71 conv. a few years ago. Otherwise you paint it while it is on and the gap and the gasket get filled with paint and painted and the gasket may expand and contract and paint can start to flake of and makes for kind of a messy looking seem if you are picky?
Your bodyman sure looks like he knows what he is doing so maybe he is fully aware and isn't concerned. All I know is when I disassembled the car and took the extensions off there was no primer underneath all was painted before installation.

Scrappie thanks for your comments.
I asked my body guy and he plans to take off the extensions before the car is painted and paint them separate then install the new gaskets.
Apparently they were on to make sure everthing lined up. Thanks for the tip.

Seats are almost done but may have to do something about the old headrests?
They did one more final sanding 320 then 400 and she is ready to hit the paint booth on Monday.

I purchased the seat covers from Fusick and yes they do have the head rest covers but I think I will take the dye approach if they are off in color too much. When I spoke to Fusick they advised that if the headrests were in good condition then that would give me a better result. I have had a very good experience with Fusick through this entire process and they have never tried to over sell me in fact the opposite.

Ooops! for some reason I had it in my head that you got your covers from Legendary...my bad. Fusick is my first choice when I buy parts for my cars, so I am sure they will do good by you as they have always been good for me. Nice people.

I heard the same thing DC thanks. As far as the top plate are you looking at my Feb 17th post? I believe it was original as the old sticker was on etc., but I am not 100% sure. What do you think is wrong?

Thanks 70vista.
dc thanks I did not realize that I will have to take a closer look at yours.
Viking not sure what you mean "stripe kit" but if you are asking where is it then the answer is the hood will be striped and if I do want the side stripes they will be a decal.

looking great!! definitely dye the headrests, I tried to recover mine and as good as they looked they weren't good enough. I bought brand new replacements that only come in black and then realized if I had to dye those pearl I might as well find used originals in good condition and dye them. The trick is to clean them perfectly and then use a adhesion dye prep first. Then spray them with white dye then the pearl coat over the white. Or instead of white you can try to find a light beige and then use pearl over that.

Great colour, but I'm a sucker for blue cars. Been picturing "mine" (don't quite have it yet) in a deep blue with a silver base, or something along those lines.
You're going to have a great looking car there.
