69 W30 442 Post Restoration

So for the past couple years I’ve been buying and selling parts on this site for my 69 cutlass S convertible restoration, now I’m hooked. I bought my first Oldsmobile when I was 16. It was a 69 F85 i drove it all through high school and sold it to my best friends brother when i was 20. 24 years later i bought my 69 convertible and took 2 years to restore it. Going down that road has lead me to my current project 69 W30 442 Post. I bought this car from a friend of mine in Indiana it’s more of a rescue restoration than anything. I’ve been to nationals and Lansing show and few other Oldsmobile shows and still haven’t seen a 69 w30 post. So i figured let’s bring this one back from the grave. Ill take any advise from you guys that i can get.

It came with a 400 G block and a m20 4spd, talking to the owner this engine block was replaced in mid 70s. I sold the D heads that came with the car and bought a complete 69 w30 motor. The motor that came with car was blown up ill attach some more pics

Wow. Some of you all are so dedicated. Give us some back story. How long has your friend had it? Interior gone or? Good for you. I Love seeing people bringing life back to cars. Factory colors? Please keep us updated. I love it. I know a 68 442 that has been in a backyard so long the fence has been erected around it. Easy 35 years. On my someday list.

Back story on the car is the origanal owner blew up the second motor he put in it, then decide to trade it to my friend in 1985 for a 68 w31. My friend parked the car in 85 then was gonna use it as a parts car. It sat ever since till i came along a bought it. As far as interior i have the back seat and front seat i threw away it wasn’t salvagable. My intent is to bring it back the way it came from the factory. I’ve been collecting tons of parts for it still need a couple things but im on my way. Colors are platinum with black interior and black stripes on the hood. The only thing I’m gonna change is the transmission. My older brother talked me into a TKX 5spd the car has the correct TO 3.91 rear gears

You are a brave person. Unless the doors have been changed, I don't believe that is a 69 since the 69 doesn't have vent windows.

Post cars have vent windows. Looking forward to following the build, like how they had the car equipped manual steering and W30 manual brakes what is not to like.
Did you see any signs of weld on traction bars on the diff or frame? Was there any signs of a roll bar at one time? The reason I ask is because it is equipped like a car that spent time at the track.

Be aware that the #402569 is the very "healthy" 328/328 cam.

Couple update pics, passenger side lower inner wheel well was rotten so i cut it along the line of where the trunk and the floor tie in so it’s not noticeable. I would have never tried this project if it wasn’t for my friend Steve. He’s doing a 69 W31 on you tube and I reference a lot off his videos.

This is like doing an early Mustang, they were notorious for rust. Looking forward to seeing up dates.

Boss 429? Bad *** drag car. Change the plugs? Pull the motor. Oh wait that involves engineering. Ford's bad.

My 70 442 was one hundred percent stock. I had this fool that I worked with with a one of 275 billion built 289 yutzstang that talked so much **** to me. Rebuilt his everything. I had a 2.78 open. I told him fifty bucks a gear. This was the late eighties... When he hit third?
I hit second and went sideways. Couldn't give me one year Any Yutzstang. Not one.

Shelby? That's a Putzstang body and nothing else. Still can't change the plugs. Hello shock towers.

I was speaking to the amount of rust repair required to bring the car back not to anything else.

Ambitious project, but glad you are saving and restoring it! Nice work so far! Great color combo, my 69 442 convertible is the same colors.

Any pics of your 69 cutlass S convertible? Gotta love the 69 Oldsmobiles !

You keep repressing like that and you'll have a stroke! Tell us how you really feel...

Quick update, i got the rear driver side inner wheel well patch. And got my inner rockers patched up and straightened out also got them prepped on my floor ready to mock up. Over the weekend we made another trip out to Indiana to buy some more stuff off of Ron. And i also bought a bunch of parts off Dave 442 in California, those parts will be shipped soon. Without those 2 guys I don’t think I could do this project they literally have everything i need for my 69s. I’ve purchased a lot of NOS parts for this car this year for example quarter panels, outer rocker panels, grille, headlight bezels, all the badging for the car, window cranks, door levers, all NOS. But I’m currently looking for NOS tail light bezels if anyone knows of any for sale.
